The Household Map

See who holds what, before it all depends on you.

You may already have a financial advisor, CPA, attorney, insurance professional, and other specialists. Yet someone in your household is still responsible for keeping track of the full picture.

That person remembers what exists, knows where the documents are, and keeps track of what is still open, who needs to respond, and what needs follow-up. Over time, that can become difficult to manage.

The Household Map gives you a clear picture of how your financial system currently works, who owns each responsibility, where questions remain unresolved, and where important knowledge still depends on one person.

This may be a fit if

  • Your financial life involves several professionals and multiple moving pieces.

  • One person in the household has become the default financial coordinator.

  • Your spouse or family would have difficulty locating information or knowing whom to contact if you were unavailable.

  • You are approaching retirement, a business transition, relocation, liquidity event, or another meaningful change.

  • You want more clarity before deciding whether a larger organizational or continuity project is necessary.

The households I expect this work to fit often earn $300,000+ annually and/or have significant accumulated assets, but complexity matters more than a specific income number.

How it works

1

Complimentary 30-minute introductory conversation

We start with a short private conversation. We discuss what prompted you to reach out, how your financial life is currently managed, and whether the Household Map fits your situation.

I will tell you honestly if I do not think the Household Map is the right next step. This conversation is for fit and scope. It is not a financial strategy session.

2

60-minute working session

We map the major pieces of your financial life at a high level, including:

  • the professionals involved

  • who currently owns each responsibility

  • major account, property, business, entity, insurance, and investment categories

  • open questions

  • areas requiring follow-up

  • information that currently depends heavily on one person

  • any major transition that may increase coordination needs

You do not provide passwords or account credentials.

3

Your written Household Map

After the working session, I organize what we discussed into a concise written Map. Depending on the household, it may include:

  • a professional and responsibility map

  • major financial categories and who currently oversees them

  • unresolved questions

  • areas where professional input is still needed

  • follow-up items

  • information or responsibilities that depend too heavily on one person

  • a short list of which open items to take to which professional first

The Map records structure, responsibilities, questions, and locations. It does not contain passwords or account credentials.

4

45-minute follow-up conversation

We walk through your Map together. We clarify anything that is incomplete and identify which questions belong with your existing CPA, attorney, financial advisor, insurance professional, or other specialist.

For some families, the Map is enough. If it shows that a larger organizational and continuity project would be useful, we can discuss a separate three-month Family Wealth System engagement. There is no expectation that you continue beyond the Household Map.

What this is not

I do not:

  • provide investment, tax, legal, or insurance advice

  • recommend investments, financial products, legal structures, or tax strategies

  • manage money

  • make decisions on your behalf

  • replace your financial advisor, CPA, attorney, insurance professional, or other licensed professional

  • hold your passwords or log into your financial accounts

My role is to help make the structure visible, organize unanswered questions, document responsibilities, and help you prepare for more productive conversations with the professionals already advising you.

Who you would be working with

I'm Alina Trigub.

My background includes tax work at Ernst & Young, private equity, and about two decades in technology, where much of my work involved organizing complex systems, connecting people and information, and making sure important details did not depend on one person's memory.

I also publish The Long Arithmetic, where I write about wealth, decision-making, structure, and long-term financial thinking.

Fee

The Household Map is a fixed-fee engagement. The scope and fee are confirmed in writing before we begin.
